After relocating to New Orleans in 2011, where he was mentored by Louis Sahuc, Joseph P. Walton work took on new depth as he sought to capture spontaneous moments and movements of the dynamic, colorful city and its inhabitants. Much of his photography incorporates street scenes, musicians, fellow artists, revelers, and tourists against a backdrop of historic architecture, decay, and lush greenery.

For more than 10 years, Walton has curated photography exhibitions at various galleries around the United States, including those in his hometown, New Orleans, and Chicago. His work has been featured in Black and White magazine, and several of his New Orleans portraits reside in the permanent collection of the Embassy of the United States in Moscow. Additionally, his art has been featured in the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center.
