Nuttier Than A Squirrel

Nuttier Than A Squirrel starts by hand collecting real acorn cupules ("lids" or "caps" or "hats"). The cupules get cleaned up and then roasted a little to add a nice golden color. A durable clear lacquer is added to enhance the natural beauty of the acorn and to protect it from normal wear. Each acorn cap is paired with a natural stone, mineral, pearl, or wooden bead. I'm a fanatic for details and each earring is paired as closely as possible (some would call that perfectionism but I call it 'squirrelly').
I use sterling silver or niobium (hypoallergenic) ear wires and findings. Pendants are hung sterling silver (plated in fine silver) silver foxtail chains available in 18", 20", and 24" lengths. Each piece is placed in a box made from recycled materials, which is perfect for gift giving.
My work is made from found, natural objects and built into wearable keepsakes. The materials I use have character and are inherently unique, and that is what I enjoy about working and creating with them. Although each object is described and photographed to the best of my ability, the sourcing of natural acorn cupules and stone/mineral beads often lends to each product bearing unique marks from Mother Nature.
